SPC Overseas Summer Program 2017

– Experiencing American Culture

On June 21, a total of 11 Shiu Pong College (SPC) students, who were led by the Master of SPC, visited Northwest Christian University (NCU) at Eugene, Oregon, United States to participate in a 15-day “American Culture and Language Program” (ACLP).
This is the 3rd Overseas Summer Program (OSP) organized by SPC. Being one of its signature experiential learning programs, this 15-day summer program was designed to help SPCers to enhance their understanding of American Culture, as well as their English speaking and listening ability.
Through tailor-made and fun-filled culture and language courses conducted by NCU professors, participating students reported that their understanding of American culture had been deepened and their confidence in speaking English had been enhanced. For the purpose of effectively enriching students’ cultural experience, each participating student experienced a typical American life with an English-speaking homestay family for three days.
The outdoor cultural tours, which provided opportunities for SPC students to interact with American students from NCU and to enjoy the natural beauty of America, were the highlights of the 15-day summer program, including a 2-day cabin camping integrated with cross-cultural leadership training workshop in Cascade Mountains, rafting activity at the McKenzie River, a trip to Oregon Coast as well as a visit to America’s deepest lake – the Crater Lake – at a National Park.
The trip ended with a fourth-of-July celebration and students enjoyed their first Independence Day firework display at Eugene. Filled with enduring memory and fruitful learning outcomes from the trip, the 11 participating students returned to Macau on July 5.

紹邦書院完成第三次暑期海外學習項目

6月21日，澳門大學紹邦書院的11位同學在院長梁偉賢教授的帶領下，前往美國俄勒岡州尤金市的西北基督教大學（NCU），進行了為期15天的美國語言及文化交流活動。本項目旨在幫助同學瞭解美國文化及加強英文口語交流能力。這已是紹邦書院連續第三年組織本項目。

西北基督教大學的教授們為紹邦書院的同學提供了精心設計、充滿樂趣的文化及語言課程。課後，同學們紛紛表示，他們對美國文化的了解更加深入，講英語的自信心也更強了。此外，同學們有三天時間可以住在當地人家庭裡面，近距離體驗最純正的美國生活和文化。文化游則是本次項目的亮點。同學們遊歷了俄勒岡州的深山、河流、海灘。在享受美景的同時，跟西北基督教大學的同學們深入交流，並接受了跨文化的領導力訓練。

在體驗了7月4日的美國獨立日慶典之後，紹邦書院的同學們帶著難忘的回憶和豐富的學習成果，于當地時間7月5日踏上了歸程。
