The First High Table Dinner (HTD) cum Scholarship Presentation Ceremony at Shiu Pong College (SPC) took place on Monday evening, September 26, 2016, with the participation of more than 200 students and distinguished guests, including Dr. Peter Lam – Chair of University Council, Professor Lionel Ni – Vice Rector (Academic Affairs), Professor Haydn Chen – Vice Rector (Student Affairs), Professor Jacky So – Dean of Faculty of Business Administration, SPC college fellows and affiliates, and scholarship recipients from other residential colleges at the University of Macau (UM).
Scholarships donors and representatives from four local organizations were invited to this SPC HTD to present scholarships to 14 UM students. Among our donors include: Professor Jacky So – donor of Gloria Man Wai So Students Scholarships, Dr. Wu Shun Him – President of Wu’s Group in Macau, Ms. Grace Ma – Director of Human Resources of HSBC, Macau, and Mr. Ringo Shea – Director of Southa Engineering (Macau) Limited.
The HTD started with College Master, Professor W.Y. Leung’s welcome message and a brief introduction of SPC to our guests, before inviting our donors to present their scholarships. The dinner was also enriched by a traditional Chinese musical performance – Pipa solo by a first-year student.
This first SPC HTD concluded with an inspiring speech from Mr. Andre Lui, a renowned architect from Macau, on “Preservation of Heritage and Modernization in Macau”. His elaboration on Macau’s rapid urban development in the past decades, through the vivid examples of the dwindling size of our living spaces – from roughly 4.5 square meters in the 1940 to about 2.75 meters today – stimulated reflection on the part of the HTD audiences. “I hope this presentation would help students reflect on how we can preserve and improve our living space and conditions while sustaining economic advancements,” said Mr. Lui.
紹邦書院2016/2017學年第一次高桌晚宴暨獎學金頒發儀式在9月26日（週一）順利舉行。超過200名學生和嘉賓出席，其中包括澳門大學校董會主席林金誠博士、學術事務副校長倪明選教授、學生事務副校長程海東教授, 澳門大學工商管理學院院長蘇育洲教授、書院的各位導師和來自其他書院，前來領取獎學金的同學。
參加本次高桌晚宴的嘉賓還有4家本地機構的獎學金捐贈者及代表，包括澳門大學工商管理學院院長及蘇張文慧獎學金捐贈人蘇育洲教授、澳門胡氏集團主席胡順謙博士、香港上海匯豐銀行（澳門）人力資源部主管馬慧婷女士，和南龍集團（澳門）董事佘達志先生，他們為14名澳大學子頒發了獎學金。
在頒發獎學金之前，紹邦書院院長梁偉賢教授向嘉賓們介紹了紹邦書院的發展狀況，獲得了聽眾們的熱烈掌聲。還有一年級學生高慈君在晚宴中表演了琵琶獨奏《彝族舞曲》。
此外，著名建築師呂澤強先生在高桌晚宴上進行了題為“文化遺產保育與現代化：澳門個案”的精彩演講。他回顧了澳門過去二十年的高速城市發展，并用生動的例子向大家展示了生活空間的萎縮，例如，臥室由20世紀40年代的4.5平方米縮小到現在的2.75平方米，引發了觀眾們的思考和討論。他說：“我希望這個演講可以幫助同學們思考，在經濟發展的同時，我們該如何保護和改善我們的生活空間和條件。”
