Christmas Party cum Caroling at SPC
More than 70 resident and non-resident members of Shiu Pong College flocked to its Dining Hall to celebrate the 2017 Christmas on Dec. 17, where they played games, exchanged presents, singing Christmas carols, getting lucky draw prizes and enjoying a Christmas buffet dinner.
These SPCers – which include more than 60 students from the Mainland and Macau, plus more than 10 College fellows and Affiliates, volunteer tutors of the English Table (ET) and staff members of the College –even had a 20-minute quiet time when ET volunteer tutor Mr. Neil Perry shared his view about the true meaning of Christmas.
Senior College Fellow Prof. Siu Wai Leung, of the Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences at UM, became Santa Claus giving out Christmas presents, while another ET volunteer tutor Miss Meghana Nerurkar, Princeton in Asia Fellow, engaged everybody in the game of “Dot the Reindeer’s Nose.” Prof. Brian Chan, Associate Professor of the English Department at UM and also ET volunteer tutor, led the caroling.
While the lucky draw did focus attention and arouse applauses, the evening’s celebration was pushed to a climax when cleaning lady Ms. Tam and two security guards – San and Jaynel – came in, joining the celebration, especially when College Master Prof. Kenneth Leung asked for a big round of applause for their untiring hard work throughout the year to keep the college compound clean and secured.
Participating students did not want to leave the venue albeit the evening’s celebration programs were over by 9:45 p.m. as the atmosphere of the big SPC family continued to linger.
紹邦書院聖誕聚會齊聲歡唱
12月17日晚，超過70位紹邦書院的成員歡聚在食堂聚賢軒，參與慶祝2017聖誕聯歡與歌頌晚會。當晚的節目包括豐富多彩的遊戲、互換禮物、聖誕歌頌、抽獎，以及美味的聖誕自助餐。
參加者包括60余名本地和中國大陸的學生，以及10名書院導師、員工和英語桌志願者導師。英語桌志願者導師Neil Perry先生用20分鐘的時間分享了他關於聖誕節真實含義的觀點，參加者們都聚精會神地聆聽。紹邦書院資深導師、來自中華醫藥研究院的梁少偉教授裝扮成聖誕老人送出了禮物。另一位英語桌志願者導師、普林斯頓大學亞洲研究員Meghana Nerurkar女士帶大家一起玩“點馴鹿鼻子”的遊戲。同樣也是英語桌志願者導師的英語系陳學成副教授則負責指揮聖誕頌歌。
抽獎環節無疑引人關注。但當晚氣氛的最高潮，卻是在清潔人員譚女士、保安員San和Jaynel一起加入慶祝之時，梁偉賢院長更帶領大家一起為他們的不懈工作而熱烈鼓掌。
紹邦書院闔家歡樂的氣氛是如此之好，以至於在晚上9:45之後，參加的同學們仍捨不得離開。
